Description
Boris I accepted holy baptism and the name of his godfather – Emperor Michael in 864, and then introduced the Christian faith everywhere in the Bulgarian lands. His experience as a statesman convinced him that the conversion of the Bulgarian people and the establishment of a Bulgarian church could not only spiritually unite Slavs and proto-Bulgarians, but also turn Bulgaria into an even more powerful and unavoidable factor that the other countries cannot help but take into account .
With exceptional statesmanship, he confirmed definitive Slavic worship in the Bulgarian church and its complete independence.
