Bulgarian Mint EAD<\/strong> is a company having as its object of activity production of all circulation and commemorative coins used as legal tender in the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. The company is the sole producer of orders, medals and other state honorary decorations. The sole owner of the Bulgarian Mint is the Bulgarian national Bank.<\/p>\n

Mission<\/h2>\n

Our mission is to make high quality products that meet the BNB\u2019s needs of circulation and commemorative coins, required for the reliable operation of the payment system of the Republic of Bulgaria. We have state-of-the-art equipment, highly qualified experts and know-how, which guarantee the timely and high quality performance of every order along the full production cycle\u00a0\u2013 from the creation of a graphic and plastic design to manufacturing the ready products in the mintage desired by the customer.<\/p>\n

Our production is based on the use of non-ferrous and precious metals, precious and semi-precious stones, jeweler\u2019s silicate enamels, organic enamels, resins and varnishes. We have at our disposal the use of various gold, silver, platinum, nickel and copper decorative electroplating.
\nWe, the Mint team, accept as our obligation to provide high-quality products for the currency circulation needs\u00a0\u2013 Bulgarian circulation and commemorative coins; to expand the range and volume of collectible products \u2013 orders, plaques, medals, badges, etc.; to maintain the quality and quantity of export products\u00a0\u2013 commemorative coins and medals; to modernize our in-house-developed production technologies, applying efficient and recognized global practices;<\/p>\n

Short history, structure and principles<\/h2>\n

The Bulgarian Mint has operated since 1952. This is the year of minting of the first circulation coins \u2013 bronze ones of 1, 3\u00a0 and 5 stotinkas, and Cu-Ni ones of 10 and 20 stotinkas.<\/p>\n

In 1962, the Bulgarian Mint mastered the technology for production of orders and medals. Since then, the company has been producing all the decorations for the National Assembly, the President\u2019s Office and ministries according to the requirements of the order and decoration system of the Republic of Bulgaria.
\nIn 1965, the company minted the first commemorative coins made of gold and silver alloy with the images of Georgi Dimitrov and Saints Cyril and Methodius.
\nIn 1993, the company put in regular production the first Bulgarian platinum commemorative coin “Republic of Bulgaria\u2019s Association with the European Community: Desislava”
\nIn 2010, the Bulgarian Mint EOOD was transformed by changing its legal form into a sole owner joint stock company.
