Description
The solemn entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem as King is a great holiday, which is better known to the people under the name Vrabnitsa (Tsvetnitsa). This day is celebrated on the Sunday before the Resurrection of Christ (Easter). It is called Vrabnitsa, because then in the church, blooming willow branches are distributed to worshipers (instead of palm branches, because the palm tree does not grow in our country) recalling the solemn entry of Christ into Jerusalem. But this nice custom has another, deeper meaning. The blooming willow branches are a symbol and a sign of the royal dignity of the Savior, who rules the universe and of His victory over the enemy of the human race – the devil.
